What the Review Mark 5-Star Rating Means
What does a 4.4 on Review Mark actually mean, and how is it calculated? A clear guide to our star rating and labels.
Review Mark Team ·

Every brand on Review Mark shows a star rating from 1 to 5, with a short label such as “Excellent” or “Rising Brand”. Here is what the number means and how it is calculated.
What goes into the rating
A brand’s overall rating combines two things:
- Verified customer reviews – the average of all approved reviews on the brand’s Review Mark page.
- The Review Mark team rating – our team’s assessment of the brand, when one has been made.
The team rating counts as a fixed number of reviews, so it gives new brands a fair starting point. As more customers review the brand, their voice carries more and more weight.
What each rating means
- 4.3 – 5.0: Excellent – customers consistently have a very good experience.
- 3.8 – 4.2: Rising Brand – a good brand that is building a strong track record.
- 2.8 – 3.7: Needs improvement – mixed experiences; check recent reviews carefully.
- 1.8 – 2.7: Not recommended – frequent, serious problems.
- 1.0 – 1.7: Bad – customers report very poor experiences.
The colours of the star tiles follow the same bands, from red for the lowest ratings to green for the highest.
Why the number of reviews matters
Next to the rating, you will see how many reviews it is based on. A rating from many recent reviews is more reliable than one from only a few. Always read some of the reviews too.
Reviews are checked
Every review is moderated before it appears. Our team removes fake, abusive or irrelevant reviews, but never removes a genuine review because it is negative.
Ratings across the web
Where available, brand pages also show ratings from Google, Facebook and marketplaces such as Daraz, so you can compare. These are shown for reference and are not part of the Review Mark rating.
Rating and certificate are different
The star rating reflects customer experience over time. The Brand Excellence Certificate is awarded only after a full independent assessment against our Excellence Criteria. A brand can have a good rating without being certified.
