How to Write a Helpful Review (That Brands and Shoppers Actually Use)
A good review helps other shoppers decide and helps brands improve. Here is how to write one in five minutes, with an example.
Review Mark Team ·

“Good product” helps nobody. A few specific sentences can help hundreds of people make a better decision, and tell a brand exactly what to fix.
What to include
- What you bought and when.
- How you ordered (shop, website, Facebook) and how long delivery took.
- The quality compared with what was promised.
- How the brand handled any problem.
- Who the product is right for, and who it is not.
An example
“I ordered a cotton saree on Facebook on 2 March. It arrived in 3 days, well packed. The colour was slightly darker than the photo, but the fabric was soft and the length was correct. When I asked about the colour, the page replied within an hour and offered an exchange. 4 stars: good quality and service, but the photo could be more accurate.”
What to avoid
- Personal attacks on staff or other customers.
- Phone numbers, addresses or private conversations.
- Reviewing a brand you have not bought from.
- Writing in anger right away: wait until you have the full picture.
Be fair with your stars
Five stars means “excellent, I would recommend it”. Three means “okay, with problems”. One means “a bad experience”. If a brand fixed your problem well, say so: that is useful information too.
